Representation

What group do you belong to?
I believe I am part of multiple groups, having aspects from different areas of each, I am determined to succeed and hard working to get what I want in life. This takes aspects from the 'Get paid crew' which is described as "The get Paid Crew have two main goals in life – to make money and be their own boss. Motivated, resourceful and determined". I am inspired by YouTubers who have built up their own business by doing what they love and now get to travel the world and have unique chances that they may not have had before they started making YouTube videos.

[The Shaytards, a YouTube family who have gone from debt filled lives where they were so short of money they had to steal toilet paper from taco bell, to co-creating a YouTube business 'Maker studios' which just sold to Disney for millions of pounds.]
I can also see a representation of myself within the 'Townies who are not defined by a single thing. They are described to like following the recent trends and not having a single defining shop that they go to but instead picking up things that appeal to them from a variety of places. Also it describes them to listen to the latest number one song which is a lot like myself as I do not have a single genre of music that I am particularly into unlike some other groups.

Finally, I see myself within the 'Tumblr kids' group in the aspect of 'it’s all about re-blogging images that show a window into their world'. I wouldn't describe myself as a brave person who is willing to try out new things and to 'start a trend' but to instead find parts of other groups that fit into what I like. From this group I am less about the 'complete exposure' and more about taking the best bits from the different groups.

What media figures are similar to you, do you model yourself on them?
I don't believe that I model myself on a media figure such as a celebrity or musician, as you never really know the true person that they represent. Even with famous YouTubers that daily vlog their lives you only ever get to see a few minutes of their 24 hour day which is a very small snippet. This means that they may not be the people that you see them as and therefore you should not aspire to be like them as you mostly only get to see the positive moments of their life.
Therefore I believe that I do not model myself on anyone famous and instead look to family/friends for the way I should act and who I should aspire to be. I believe that the person I am is influenced by my friends in particular, for example I use words that I wouldn't before because the people I surround myself with commonly use them; also I am influenced by their likes and dislikes.

I do not believe that I model myself on a media figure in the way that I dress completely but I  take inspiration from their recommendations and new trends. For example, I like to watch YouTube haul videos which is where the person shows what they have brought recently and is often what is on trend at the time. I do not want to buy these clothes because I want to be like this person but because it shows me clothes that I maybe before wouldn't have known about or make me want to go to a shop to get a particular piece of clothing that I really like in a shop I wouldn't normally go into.

5x5

Five of my favourite series:
[Orange is the new black]
  • Orange is the new black (Netflix)
This is a show about a women's prison and the life of Piper Chapman, a young educated women, who finds herself mixed up in trouble with the police and therefore a lot of bother with the other inmates who don't like her being a newbie and having a fortunate upbringing. I like this show because Piper is not the normal women you would expect to see in a prison environment and so she brings controversy to the show and shows what it can be like in prison to new inmates.
  • Dance academy (Netflix)
A series following an Australian ballet school as the young performers battle their way through the tough dance lifestyle in order to reach the end of third year and hopefully receive a contract with a top company. I like this show because the content of each episode is different and new to any other series I have seen before. The series looks at the struggles of teen life mixed with the demands of being a dancer and at the end of each episode the viewer is left with a cliff hanger leaving them wanting to watch the next.
  • Gavin and Stacey (BBC1)
This is a series following a young couple one from Essex, London and the other from Barry, Wales. I like this show because of the funny characters which create the entertaining storyline and because of the interesting family life's shown between Essex and Barry and as Gavin and Stacey try to build up their own.
  • Friday night dinner (Channel 4)
This is a comedy series about one Jewish families traditional Friday night dinner and the complications/dramas that follow from that. I like this show because it's funny to watch and despite what is expected, each episode is different with new characters introduced that add to the comedy appeal.
  • The big bang theory (E4)
This is a series about a group of scientists who try their hardest to go against the 'nerd' stereotype of the science world and the people they meet/fall in love with. I like this show because the characters are easy to love and you want the relationships between them to work out well despite the on going endeavour between Penny and Leonard (two main characters) through the three series. I also like this because they show a different side to the stereotyped image of scientists and is relatable to a lot of people who, similarly to the characters, have been bullied growing up due to their knowledge and the things they like/dislike.
Five of my favourite songs:

  • Dear Darlin'-Olly Murs, Right Place Right Time
  • Photograph-Ed Sheeran, X
  • Afire love-Ed Sheeran, X
  • Smile-The Vamps, Meet The Vamps
  • All of me-John Ledgend, Love in the future

Five of my favourite YouTubers and a quote said by them:
[The ShayTards]
  • The ShayTards, a family of 7 'vlogging' their everyday lives. Shay-"Someday doesn't exist, never has, never will. There is no someday. Only today"
  • Sprinkleofglitter, Louise- "Some people are slim, some people are big, some people are tall, some people are short, that's just how it is"
  • ThatcherJoe, Joe "So if you're a little bit weird like me, don't hide it just show it off...because people out there will appreciate your weirdness, and they're the sort of people you want in your life
  • Zoella, Zoe-"Be the best version of you"
  • Itswaypastmybedtime, Carrie-"It doesn't make you a failure...it makes you a person"
Five of my favourite types of photography:
[A photo taken at Broadway market]
  • Iconic things from around the world
I like this because it shows the great marks of each unique place and how beautiful they can be from looking a single photograph. Also being able to take photos of these things would mean being able to travel the world and experience different cultures/ways of life which I would enjoy.
  • Wedding photos
I like these photos because it shows the love between, not just the couple, but their families and the possibility of two completely different families ,who may have different ways of life, have been brought together by these two people. These kind of photos would be fun to take because of the different kinds of weddings you could visit and experience different peoples take on their special day.
  • Seasonal photographs
I like these photos because they make me look forward to the coming season, no matter what this may be; they always show the beauty of each season and the traditional things to be accomplished during the months. I also like these kind of photos because they can be captured by photographing a single thing at different times of the year, for example an open space with trees is transformed each season, whether that be with snow, falling leaves or just sun in the summer.
  • Fashion and beauty
I like these kind of photos because they always show how unique everyone is and how different people choose to model things in different ways and how each thing is suited to them. I enjoy looking at these photos for inspiration for things such as nail art or the up-coming trends.
  • Unique art in unusual places
I like these photos because they are always original, such as in the photo above where it would be unlikely to find this kind of pattern above your everyday front door. They make the place seem more iconic and interesting and they are always intriguing and fun to look for. They can also be taken all over the world and vary from big pieces of art to small detailing like within the photo above.
Five of my favourite music videos and why:
[Just the way you are by Bruno Mars]
  • Chandelier by Sia because of the talented young dancer
  • A sky full of stars by Coldplay because it was recorded on the streets with the crowds natural reactions
  • Just the way you are by Bruno Mars because it was edited so the tape from the cassette moves to tell the story
  • The A team by Ed Sheeran because the video shows the story described in the song
  • Who's laughing now by Jessie J because there is a young actress who portrays what Jessie wishes she had said/done to the people who bullied her when she was younger
